Importance of training and development in HRM
What is training and development (TD) in HRM TD describes the formal, ongoing efforts within the organizations to improve employee performance and self-actualization through various educational methods and programs. “Training is the systematic development of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required by an individual to perform adequately a given task or job”. (Source: A Handbook of Human Resource Management Practice, Kogan Page, 8th Ed.,2001) The objectives of TD There are four other objectives as follows: Individual - Help employees in achieving their personal goals, which in turn enhances the individual contribution to an organization Organizational - Assist the organization with its primary objective by bringing individual effectiveness.
