What is Equal Employment Opportunity

EEO, means individuals are entitled to be treated similarly regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race, age, socioeconomic status, religion, disability etc., will be fairly considered for a relevant job role and protect them being subject to discrimination and prejudice based on characteristics.

There is no question why organizations should publish EEO policies and educate and train their employees to identify conflicts due to biases based on background, race, gender, culture, religion, language, etc., and how they report and resolve such conflicts. .

  2. Equal employment opportunity is a right every job applicant has throughout a hiring process. It refers to the protection job candidates have against discrimination on the basis of their race, religion, sex or national origin, among other qualified characteristics. Employers may not judge or decide a person’s suitability for a job on any of these bases. EEO further covers current employees against discrimination for promotions, pay, benefits or discharge. Understood that EEO measures that should be taken by the company to protect their potential recruits and workforce, it is important to also have policies in place to prevent harassment in the workplace on the basis of protected characteristics, or any other factors. And also in Sri Lanka there is a constitution for Develop equal employment opportunities.

  6. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) refers to procedures designed to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated equally regardless of factors such as race and gender (Scott, 2009). If the organizations fails to comply with the employment equity laws, they may face legal action, and fines. Therefore, the workplace inequality involves direct costs as well as indirect costs arising from missing out on the benefits of different ideas and methods of work being done.
